Why is it that Jeb Bush, with all of his credentials, his presidential bloodline and his maturity, is not gaining popularity in the polls and is overshadowed by far less experienced, possibly less qualified or less capable candidates to be the next President of the United States? In this morning's LA Times, (10/29/15) in his own search for his ineffectiveness, Jeb stated that he wished he was a better "talker".  "Some people are talkers, and others are doers and I'm a doer". Or words to that effect.  While he may be right, here is my take on why he's not being well received, after 48 years of dressing more than 5,000 men, many very famous and at the top of their game.  My speech and seminars outline success stories including research that points to how the clothing we wear determines the level at which we perform. People actually score higher in tests taken when dressed up, than when sloppy casual!  Additionally, the other side of the coin i

Greg Chapman, professional speaker and merchant tailor with 50 years of experience speaking to groups about the importance of "Dressing for Success". Greg spoke at the Entrepreneur's Organization's Mini-University event to an overwhelmingly positive response ( his friend Tom Garrett mentioned that his message is invaluable to entrepreneurs and that Greg is one of the most highly-rated speakers they've had). He was hoping to have the opportunity to speak to your group here in L.A> sometime in the near future as well. Almost everyone who attends Greg's talks say they've learned more about personal appearance and its effect on success in 30 minutes than they have learned their entire lives. In around a half hour Greg will explain his"Seven Elements of Dressing for Success" and inspire his audience with incredible stories, including those of some his famous clients illustrating the magic of "Dressing for Success" and

How well do you project your image?

Each of these former U.S. Presidents were at one time the most powerful man in the world! Although only one stands out as well dressed! Which one do you think?  The real question is: Why wouldn't every man want to take steps to look his most successful best? address The overall result of how well a man looks in a suit is first of all how well the suit is cut to address the hundreds of unique aspects of his physique and proportions including  his posture, his overall shape, the slope of his shoulder, the relative relationship between his chest size and his shoulder width, the forward or backward hang of his arms, the shape of his seat, and so much more. Less than 1 man in  20  have a physique that comes close to a standard formula for an "average" shape and "average" measurements, which produces pre-manufactured off the rack clothing. If you'll study the individual aspects of the fit of each suit: : the shoulder width, sleeve length, jacket length,

The Power of Appearances, The Power of Clothes

This video has really struck a chord with everyone who has seen it, because it's true: as humans, we respond to others largely based on our visual input and our "prejudices." This experiment speaks volumes about the power of clothes, and how people respond to them! In my Dress for Success talks, I tell a story from John Molloy's book, Dress for Success , a research project where an actor was hired to stand in a busy subway station explaining that he'd left his wallet home and needed a dollar for the subway. He promised to return the money the next day. Wearing a blazer, slacks and open collar shirt, he raised $7.00 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. The next day, in the same place and in the same clothes with the same word-for-word story, but wearing a tie, he raised $28.00! On alternating days, he alway s averaged four times the results while wearing a tie. Think of this as a metaphor for a career in business: one might earn as much money in ten years as

Giving New Meaning to "The Birthday Suit"

Today, Lou Colen came in to select a suit for his  100th Birthday Party  on June 21st.  Lou has been a long time client and friend since his first order in August of 1979. He reminds us that he has been turning to us for his clothes regularly for more than 1/3 of his long life! We're looking forward to making several more suits for Lou and we remember the hundreds of lifetime clients for 30, 35, 40 and a few for 45 years that we are continuing  to serve.

I believe passionately that it’s good business to look your most successful best! Always! I’ve had a front row seat in watching and helping thousands of people transform their lives. I’m convinced that one can literally change his or her life by changing their clothes! Mass produced clothing, however can’t make the necessary impact. What set’s you apart is the perfection of “fit,” the smooth drape that can only come with clothing cut to your unique shape and measurements, along with the uncommon look of “quality,” the hand “workmanship,” which is almost non-existent in off-the-rack clothing. People feel more secure doing business with people who “appear” to be successful. Our clothing, with it’s extraordinary combination of “fit” and “workmanship” makes an impact. Additional impact comes with wearing professionally selected shirts and ties that have the precise colors and patterns to accent the entire package, causing people to stop in their tracks and take notice. They have form
